U.S. Department of Efficiency (DOGE) volunteers attribute President Donald Trump to the agency's success in curbing government waste after Elon Musk's team found “jaw-bumping” fraud in the social security system.
“Nothing this would have happened without President Trump,” Antonio Gracias told Steve Doocy on Wednesday. “President Trump has the courage to let us cross the database. He signed an executive order. It's done before, agents can talk to each other, and databases can talk to each other.”
He continued: “This allows us to connect all this data to find these people throughout the system, throughout the welfare system, all the way to the voting record. It really takes a lot of courage.”
After Musk accused social security of becoming a “Ponzi scheme”
Musk and Gracias revealed at a poll rally in Wisconsin that millions of non-citizens received social insurance during the tenure of former President Joe Biden. The two shared a chart showing stable year-on-year growth, reaching a fiscal year of 2 million in fiscal 2024, which ended on September 30.
About 1 million non-citizens issued social insurance numbers in FY23, just like FY25 began in October and ended in September this year.

“We found that about five million people came to the country illegally and were given various forms of parole or permission [in] The country, they pass automated systems, social security numbers so they can access our welfare system. ”
“We followed through this and found that they were accepting welfare programs,” he noted. “Just because we were curious, we then looked at whether they were on voter Rolls-Royce, we found in some of the countries that voter Rolls-Royce had thousands of countries, many of whom voted.”
Gracias said Doge confirmed that it had obtained a fraudulent social insurance number of 1.3 million individuals and also received medical insurance benefits.
Doocy asked Gracias about the money the agency saved for U.S. taxpayers who were only associated with Social Security fraud.
“It's billions of dollars,” he replied. “You're seeing fraud on the phone line itself. That's about $1.5 billion, and I've guessed that Social Security, our north is $10 billion.”
