At least 23 people were killed while another attacked the children's hospital on Wednesday at an Israeli air strike that sheltered displaced families at a school in northern Gaza.
Air strikes at Yaffa schools in the Tuffah area of Gaza City burned tents and classrooms, medical staff said. There is no Israeli comment on the school attacks.
Hours after the strike, people were still in the flames, sifting black classrooms and campuses for items.
“We were sleeping and suddenly some explosions happened and we started looking and found the whole school was on fire, the tents here and there were fires, everything was on fire,” said witness Um Mohammed al-Hwaiti.
“People are shouting [people]the burnt child, walked and said, “Dear God, dear God, we have nothing but you.” What can we say? Dear God, only. ” she told Reuters.
At least 10 people were killed during different Israeli strikes throughout the enclave, medical staff said.
According to Gaza health authorities, Israeli attacks have killed more than 1,600 Palestinians since the ceasefire collapsed in January 18, and thousands were forced from their homes when Israel seized the so-called buffer zone of Gaza.
ICU department, damaged solar energy in children's hospital
Israeli missiles also hit the superstructure of Durra Children's Hospital in Gaza, damage the intensive care unit and destroy the solar panel system that powers the facilities, the Gaza Ministry of Health said on Wednesday. No one was killed during a hospital strike.
Since the military operation was restarted in early March, Gaza's health care system has almost collapsed as Israel blocked all supplies, including fuel and electricity, in Gaza.
It said the blockade was intended to force Hamas militants operating Gaza to release 59 remaining Israeli hostages in October 2023 attacks, causing war. Hamas said it was ready to release them, but only as part of the deal to end the war.
The Ministry of Health said many victims of Palestinian military strikes were still trapped in rubble and on the roads as rescue teams could not reach due to ongoing bombing. The attacks also hit dozens of bulldozers and machinery used to clean roads, remove debris and carry out rescue operations.
The Israeli military said Tuesday it hit 40 “engineering vehicles” used for “terrorist operations,” including Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

Some of these heavy vehicles were parked on the road, while others were parked in municipal garages.
Nasser Mohammed Nasser, a Gaza man, said: “For a year, some people have not been retrieved from under the rubble.
Even ahead of Tuesday's Israeli attack, Palestinians complained about their lack of heavy agencies, accusing Israel of refusing to allow equipment to violate the January ceasefire agreement.
According to Israeli records, the war began when Hamas-led militants attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapped 251 people. Since then, most hostages have been released in a ceasefire agreement or other transactions.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the Israeli attack killed more than 51,000 Palestinians, mainly women and children, and that does not say how many were civilians or combatants. Israel said it has killed about 20,000 militants and provided no evidence.
