Long Beach registered a magnitude 2.4 earthquake

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a magnitude 2.4 earthquake was held in Long Beach at 11:34 p.m. Sunday.
The earthquake occurred less than a mile from Los Angeles, two miles from Carson, four miles from Signal Hill and four miles from Rancho Palos Verdes.
There have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater nearby in the past 10 days.
According to a sample of data from the last three years, the Greater Los Angeles area has an average of 59 earthquakes per year, with 2.0 to 3.0 earthquakes per year.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 7.6 miles.
