Massachusetts DA tackles New England serial killer fears

Hamden County District Attorney in Massachusetts told rumors of a New England serial killer Thursday after finding a woman's body on a bicycle path in Springfield on Tuesday.
The woman's death comes after rumors circulated online about a New England serial killer was a possible New England serial killer after seven deaths between March and April in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. As of Friday, authorities have not announced any link between the deaths of eight victims.
It is unclear how the woman in Springfield died, and local medical examiners are undergoing autopsy, but Hamden County Da Anthony Gulluni said his office is thoroughly investigating every type of violence in the Springfield community.
“Our hearts pay tribute to the sad family,” Guruni said.

His office urged the public to pay attention to the role of social media in spreading misinformation and unverified claims, “this can undermine positive investigations and contribute to a sense of confusion that does not reflect the whole situation.”
“We are actively working on every prospect and deploying all available resources,” Gulluni added. “At present, there is no indication that these events are connected to each other, or that they are [are] Part of the greater public safety threat. ”

Authorities ask anyone involved in the Springfield area investigation to step up and call Springfield Police Department Detectives Department at 413-787-6355 or text the crime by texting (2-7-7-4-4-6-3-7), type the solution, and write a prompt.
“As always, our focus is on seeking justice, supporting victims and their families, and keeping the community safe,” the DA's office said.

The creepy rumours began to circulate on a Facebook group called “New England Serial Killer” and have since been renamed due to Facebook rules and regulations. In the past two months, human remains have been located in the murders of New Haven, Norwalk, Groton, Connecticut. Foster, Rhode Island; and Framingham, Plymouth and now Springfield, Massachusetts. Some social media users say that the discovery of these human remains, especially female remains, in three neighboring countries – may indicate serial killers.

But Connecticut police told Fox News figures last week that “no information is related to similar body discoveries and no public knowledge at this time,” about the death in Connecticut.
According to search engine data, the New England serial killer Facebook Group now has 66,700 members and has searched Google for “New England serial killer” around April 7 this month, with the group gaining nearly 20,000 new members this month.
