An off-duty Massachusetts policeman was shot dead in a confrontation with a police officer on Monday night because she accepted a restraining order.

“A armed confrontation occurred when one of the officers escorted Ms. Fitzsimone during the court order service,” Tucker said.

He said an officer opened fire and attacked Fitzsimmons.

Fitzsimmons, who had served in the police department for only more than a year, was taken to Boston Hospital and was in a stable condition.

She is still on administrative leave. No details about the shootings and restraining orders were disclosed, citing the ongoing investigation.

He said the shooting was being investigated by Massachusetts Police Detectives assigned to Tucker’s office.
