Medbridge announces MSK's new AI powered motion capture capability

Digital care company Medbridge launched a new AI power capture feature on Thursday through its digital musculoskeletal and exercise-based medicine platform.

Washington-based Bellevue works with clinicians, hospitals and health systems to address musculoskeletal (MSK) problems. Its clients include Intermountain Health, Kaiser Permanente and Adventhealth. The company offers an AI-powered software platform that helps clinicians treat patients through mixed care. Patients can log into the company's MSK program to conduct AI-monitored treatment exercises, get guidance on managing status and tracking their progress. Clinicians can then monitor patients’ activities to better understand their performance.

With new motion capture, patients can get more accurate exercise feedback when using their phone or computer’s camera. The camera will use Medbridge’s motion capture to detect body parts and position and provide feedback to clinicians and patients in real time. It also identifies possible fall risks. Previously, the technique was only used for lower back pain, but now it can be used for pain in the neck, elbow, hip, knee and other areas.

“This real-time feedback not only helps patients immediately, but also enables them and their clinicians to work together in future exercise and education to achieve better, faster results. … We also use AI to summarize and surface the latest patient activities and surface the latest patient activities and surface the latest patient activities and patients meet clinical clinicians’ EHR in our partner clinical clinicians’ EHR, helping them quickly grasp the patient’s work – and what they do on don’t do when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, when they are training, they are training, and when they are training, they are training, when they are training, when they are training, they are training, and

Additionally, the company offers an AI chatbot that allows patients to ask questions and receive answers on MSK Care.

Campbell said Medbridge will track the success of these new AI functions by measuring patient pain management, physician functioning, patient satisfaction and patient engagement.

The company has launched these new capabilities to eliminate healthcare shortages, which will only get worse. He noted that currently, waiting time for pelvic health treatment appointments ranges from six weeks to six months in the United States

“We believe that the future of care looks like what AI can do and humans will do their best,” he said. “If we don’t uninstall nursing and administrative capabilities to AI agents to increase the overall availability of human care capabilities, we will pair care in the future. In short, if we don’t start bringing AI into patient care, people who need care won’t be able to get it.”

Medbridge is not the only company that offers MSK support. Others include Hinge Health and Sword Health, although Medbridge is different because it sells software rather than services.
