Memorial Day mass shooting injured at least 11 people in a beach town in South Carolina

At least 11 people were injured in a massive shooting in the small beach town of Little River in South Carolina on Sunday night.

Horry County police did not disclose the status of any injured person in the shooting, which occurred around 9.30 p.m. on Watson Street in Little River.

Investigators also received more reports of victims arriving at the hospital, according to social media posts from the department.

Video from the scene showed many police cars and ambulances entering and leaving the area.

Authorities have not released details about the suspect or possible motive.

South Carolina's River is a nearby residential area, about 20 miles northeast of Myrtle Beach.

About 90 minutes after the shooting, Horry police said there was no threat to the community. They also described the shooting as an isolated incident.

Police said the investigation was “active” and “ongoing”.

“Community members are advised to avoid the area when working like public safety personnel,” police said.
