Mexican authorities arrest U.S. with CIA certificate and illegal firearms

Mexican authorities said Saturday that a U.S. national with a “CIA” study has been arrested in Mexico on weapons charges.

The Mexican Security Secretariat said the unidentified man was arrested “for his possible involvement in disrupting the Army’s exclusive use of peace and possession of weapons.”

The agency said authorities found six guns, magazines, on-site ammunition and tactical equipment.

Authorities wrote on X: “Individuals are carrying certificates with the inscription 'CIA'.”

Images released by the security agency show rifles, pistols, tactical vests, helmets, pocket knives and ammunition.

The State Department told Fox News it was aware of the reports of the man's arrest.

An agent spokesperson said its priorities are more secure than those of foreign citizens in the United States.

“When U.S. citizens are detained abroad, the department strives to provide consular assistance,” a spokesperson said.

Mexican authorities have not disclosed any other details about the man's arrest or why he was in the country.
