Mom Mia! 80-year-old man trying to drive his car down the Spanish steps in Rome – Country

An 80-year-old man drove into Rome’s historic Spanish Steps landmark earlier on Tuesday, unable to explain how he ended up trapping him on the famous sidewalk, according to Italian police.
The man tested the alcohol negatively and was fined to drive along the iconic monument in the center of the ancient city.
Police said the man was a resident of Rome and was not sure how he rushed down the steps. Authorities did not release his name or confirm that the car belonged to him.
Firefighters used cranes to remove compact vehicles from steps, according to the Associated Press.

The Spanish Steps (one of Rome's most well-known monuments) were not built for vehicles, but some drivers have tried to deport them in the past.
A Saudi man has been charged with serious damage to the cultural heritage after a surveillance camera recorded 135 steps he drove down the rented Salar platform in 2022.

The steps of Spain are named after the Spanish Embassy, located in the nearby square Di Pasta Square.
These steps were built in the 1720s and have long been popular opinion and are no stranger to film appearances, including Mission: Impossible – DeadTom Cruise drove down the stairs in a small bright yellow car.
