More than 1,000 people protest in Berlin to demand regime change Tehran

More than 1,000 protesters attended a rally in Berlin on Saturday calling for Iran's leaders to be removed as foreign government commentators increasingly push the regime to change its regime amid Israeli ongoing attacks on the country.

Berlin police estimate that outside the Berlin City Hall of the Capital City Hall, about 1,300 people are in central Berlin, while organizers list the number of participants to thousands.

The rally was organized by the National Resistance Committee of Iran (NCRI), an exiled Iranian organization that calls on the transition of power brought by the people.

Spokesman Javad Dabiran called on the West to break its ties with Tehran.

He said people have joined the protests in 60 buses from all over Germany.

NCRI was founded in 1981 with the Islamic Revolution in 1979, which overthrew the previous regime under Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

Dissident groups were banned in Iran, aiming to overthrow the Islamic leader who came to power after the uprising. It is led by the Iranian people's Mohahdin organization.

However, the group is controversial both inside and outside Iran, and opposition members largely rejected it.
