New Covid-19 variants have increased in cases in some countries. Here – Country

Covid-19 cases have risen again as new variants begin to flow in some parts of the world. The World Health Organization said Wednesday that the rise in cases was mainly in the eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific.

Airport inspections in the U.S. have found new variants of travelers reaching destinations in California, Washington, Virginia and New York from these areas.

New variants added worldwide have reached nearly 11% of sequencing samples by mid-May. The WHO designated it as a “variant under monitoring” and believes that the global level of public health risks are low and the current vaccine is expected to remain effective.

WHO said some Western Pacific countries reported an increase in co-cases and hospitalizations, but so far there has been nothing to suggest a new variant-related disease compared to other variants.

A variant called LP.8.1 is currently the major version in the United States and globally.
