Palestinian officials said Hamas agreed with our recommendations for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Cairo (Reuters) – Hamas agreed with a proposal for a ceasefire from the Gaza by U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, a Palestinian official close to the group told Reuters on Monday that paved the way for the end of the war.
Hamas received a new proposal through a mediator, which saw ten hostages and a 70-day truce.
“The proposal includes Hamas' release of ten Israeli hostages held by two groups in exchange for a 70-day ceasefire and partial evacuation from the Gaza Strip,” the source said.
The proposal also argues that Israel has released many Palestinian prisoners, including hundreds who have served in lengthy prison terms.
Israel did not comment immediately.
