Philadelphia bombing killed 1 person, injured 2 and damaged several houses

One person died and two others were injured after an explosion destroyed several homes on the north side of Philadelphia earlier Sunday.
The Philadelphia Fire Department said firefighters responded to the explosion report before 5 a.m.
Daniel McCarty, the department’s executive, said about five homes, including collapsed buildings, had suffered widespread damage. One person died and two other rescued people were hospitalized. McCarty said one person was reportedly stable while the other was in critical condition.
Staff are expected to continue the search and rescue operation.
“The biggest thing is the stability of the surrounding houses to make sure that this hazard does not spread,” McCarty said.
“It will be a full-day event for the Philadelphia Fire Department.”
Authorities have not determined the cause of the explosion.
