Video shows PTI marching in Italy instead of visiting Pakistan Army Chief in the UK

General Syed Asim Munir is the military chief of Pakistan, a position long considered the true power of the nuclear-armed Islamic state with 250 million people.

The video was also shared as the popularity of former Prime Minister Imran Khan continues to undermine the shaky coalition government, which maintained his PTI party’s power in the election in February 2024 (a link to archive).
Khan, who was ousted in 2022 and has been sentenced to jail since August 2023, was banned from participating in the polls and his PTI party was hampered by widespread repression.
Despite this, candidates loyal to Khan won more seats than any other party, but the coalition led by two former rival parties was considered an allies of the military, keeping them out (a link to archive).
The video was also shared in a similar post, claiming that it shows protests in London here and here on Facebook.
When London-based PTI supporters held protests during Munir’s visit, the clips circulating online showed a different demonstration held in Italy a few months ago (archived here and here).
Brescia's PTI protest
Reverse image and keyword search resulted in the same video posted by PTI Punjab Chapter (archive link) on Facebook on November 25, 2024.
Its description reads: “The PTI in Italy has held a huge protest in Brescia, with Pakistan from all over Italy (sic) joining in support of Imran Khan and expressing opposition to Pakistan's worst human rights violations.”

At that time, a convoy of Khan's supporters marched in Islamabad, protesting his imprisonment after a fatal confrontation between the parade and security forces (the link to archive).
Pakistani overseas Pakistanis also responded to calls for protests in dozens of countries, including Italy, according to PTI (a link for archive).
The error shared material matches the Google Street View image of Cefalonia (Archive Link) in Brescia.
