Polls show that more and more Canadians believe that the United States is the biggest threat – Country

As U.S. President Donald Trump engages in a global trade war and talks about annexation, a new poll shows that the percentage of Canadians who see the United States as the biggest threat has tripled since 2019.
While a Pew Research Center survey this year shows that 55% of Canadians still say the U.S. remains the country’s most important ally, it also says 59% now see the U.S. as a threat – up from 20% in the 2019 poll.
“Canada stands out as a place where America's perception of the United States has changed significantly,” said Janell Fetterolf, a senior researcher at the center.
Pew conducted a survey of people in 25 countries and the United States and was considered the 12 most important allies. It is the most common threat among eight countries, including the United States' closest neighbors, Canada and Mexico.
Canada is an early target of Trump's tariffs and ridicule. He repeatedly called former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “governor” and said he wanted Canada to become a U.S. state.
Trump's duties related to fentanyl trafficking in March hit Canada and Mexico but retreated from tariffs on goods that meet the Canadian-US-Mexico trade agreement.

Trump's tariffs on steel, aluminum and automobiles will also target both countries.

Many people who conducted surveys in Europe are called Russia the biggest threat, while China is more common in the Asia-Pacific region, Pew Research Center said.
Respondents of polls are more likely to call the United States an economic threat, while Russia is more likely to be considered a threat to national security, while China is often considered a combination of both.
But at least half of those surveyed in Mexico, France and Canada say the United States is also a threat that the United States poses a “big threat” to national security.
In Canada, about three-quarters of adults say the U.S. poses an economic threat, and 53% say it poses a national security threat.
The nonpartisan think tank, Pew, based in Washington, conducted a survey of 28,333 adults in 24 countries (excluding the United States) via telephone, online and in person, from January 8 to April 26.
The center also conducted a survey of 3,305 Americans by telephone, online and in person.
It is particularly possible that the Israelis call the United States the most important ally of its country. The Israelis also stood out for their particular positive comments about the United States and its president. Most Israelis are investigated to say Iran is the biggest threat.
Japanese and Koreans are also overwhelmingly stating that the United States is their most important ally.
Although Canadians are increasingly negative about the United States, Americans still have positive views on Canada. Fetrov said Canada is one of the most common allies for Americans, just after the UK.
She said a poll earlier this year showed that 74% of Americans had a good view of Canada.
