Power outage in Nice, France after Cannes Film Festival is interrupted
On Sunday, a French city in southern France reportedly broke down a nearby Cannes Film Festival.
Nearly 45,000 families in Nice were affected by a fire in the power station, and coastal city mayor Christian Estrosi accused “malice” in a post on X.
Estrosi said the electricity was restored soon. French media reported that the prosecutor's office believed the crime was intentional.
It is unclear whether the power outage is linked to a power outage that hit Cannes earlier Saturday, leaving about 160,000 homes powerless.
Authorities have proposed that the cuts may be caused by criminal activities, with a fire at the power plant, and the tower belonging to a high-voltage line.
Finally power was restored on Saturday afternoon, and the prestigious film festival awards ceremony was scheduled, although some screenings were interrupted during the day.
