President Trump and other world leaders attend Pope Francis' funeral

The funeral of Pope Francis, who died on April 21, was expected to be attended not only by faithful people, but also by world leaders.
About 130 delegations confirmed that they would go to Rome to hold funerals at St. Peter's Basilica, which included about 50 heads of state and at least 10 world leaders.

As his father, now King Charles III represents the late Queen Elizabeth II at the funeral of Pope John II in 2005, Prince William, the eldest son, will attend the funeral on Saturday.
Although Prime Minister Kier Starmer is expected to attend the pope's funeral, his family will not be with him.
Italy
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has reportedly canceled her travel plans to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan so she can attend the pope's funeral.
On the day of the death of Pope Francis, Meloni posted a tribute on social media, Meloni said: “I have the honor of enjoying his friendship, his advice and teachings that never ceased, even during the period of judgment and suffering.”

Miley, Pope Francis, despite past insults
Argentina
Javier Milei, president of Argentina, Pope Francis' home country, confirmed that he would respect the journey of people he often is crucial.
“Although the difference today seems to be small, it is a real honor for me to know him with his kindness and wisdom,” Miley said in a statement after the Pope's death.
Ireland
Ireland is a Catholic country and will represent the funeral of the pope by President Michael Higgins and Prime Minister Martin.
Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that he would attend the funeral of Pope Francis at St. Peter's Basilica and in his homage to the Pope, he said: “We remember his prayer of peace in Ukraine. Our state will attend this Saturday's farewell ceremony in Rome.”
Zelenskyy last visited the Pope in October 2024.

European Union
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen confirmed that she will attend the pope's funeral, which will be the first competition she and Trump have participated since taking office.
Many other world leaders are expected to participate, and the pope will not participate on Saturday despite criticism from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, as well as state leaders and Pope, especially from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others.
