Arizona Diamondbacks star Ketel Marte was warmly welcomed by Diamondbacks fans in his first inning Friday night's 9-8 loss to the Miami Marlins at Chase Field.
It was the team's first game at home since the Rattlebacks beat the Chicago White Sox 4-1, when a fan shouted derogatory to Marte's late mother, Elpidia Valdez. She died in a car accident in the Dominican Republic in 2017.
Comments made Marte cry, while the second baseman was cemented by Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo in the pitching change.
