Healthcare revenue cycle transformation: What do leaders need from technology vendors?

Adopting and implementing new technologies is a major undertaking for physician practices and large health systems alike. But a new research report sponsored by Smarter Technologies reveals not only implementation challenges but also practice preferences for maximizing the effectiveness of new health technologies, especially artificial intelligence. The Artificial Intelligence Index from the RCM Report will be the focus of this webinar January 22 at 1 p.m. ET.

MedCity News surveyed 125 medical billing executives and support staff, including CEOs and medical billing managers, for the report. They represent organizations of all sizes, from facilities with 5,000 or fewer discharges per year to larger hospitals with more than 10,000 discharges per year. The report also highlights the challenges and needs of both small and large practices.

More than 40% of respondents said it takes an average of two months or more for hospitals and medical institutions to receive medical bills. Survey participants also noted strong dissatisfaction with the current state of medical billing software. It's prone to coding errors, cumbersome to use, and expensive. Most respondents see AI technology as a way to reduce the time and effort required to resolve medical bills.
