Singapore ordered two other submarines from German TKMS from Kiel

German submarine builder Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) intends to build two other submarines for Singapore.

The company announced Thursday in the northern city of Kiel that it had signed a contract to build two other 218SG submarines.

This further adds to TKMS’s record order book, which currently has about 16 billion euros ($18.1 billion).

According to Thyssenkrupp Marine System, “Although high capacity utilization is available until the 2040s, orders can still be processed within Germany’s existing capabilities.”

In December 2024, the company received major orders worth billions of dollars, including another four 212CD submarines from the German Navy, the new Polarstern Research Breakerne Icrebreaker, and funding for the new F127 frigate generation project.

Singapore already has four submarines built by Keel’s Thyssenkrup Marine System.
