Solera Health partners with Calm and Lyra to launch behavioral health network

Digital health services company Solera Health launched its new behavioral health network on Tuesday, with Calm Health and Lyra Health as partners.

Phoenix, Arizona-based Solera Health partners with payers and employers to help members and employees find single point solutions. Using the company's HALO platform, customers can manage all contract point solutions in one place, whether they are part of the Solera network or their own contract solutions. Employees or members can also access all benefits through a web-based interface.

The company's new behavioral health network goes beyond traditional mental health care to focus on conditions such as anxiety and depression. Behavioral health includes mental health and also involves habits and lifestyle factors that affect overall health, such as sleep, stress, and daily routines.

“One of our goals is to ultimately be able to provide the best behavioral health support to any employer or health plan population. To be able to really meet the needs of any member who joins, no matter where they fall on the spectrum,” Paige Baldwin, clinical program manager at Solera Health, said in an interview.

To receive behavioral health support, health plan members will come to Solera and answer questions about their needs and severity, as well as their preferences (such as whether they prefer self-help content or more in-depth support). Based on their response, Solera will send members to Calm Health or Lyra Health, which provides members with actual behavioral health care and content.

Calm Health is a mental health app that provides personalized planning, screenings, meditation and sleep content to relieve stress, anxiety and depression. Lyra Health is an employer-focused mental health company that connects members with therapists and coaches through digital self-help tools.

The new network launches at a time when many Americans are struggling to access behavioral health supports. In 2024, approximately 62 million U.S. adults will live with a mental illness, but half of them will not receive treatment.

“Behavioral health and mental health is a huge challenge in the United States, it's an underdiagnosed, undertreated problem,” said Dr. Mohammed Saeed, chief medical officer at Solera Health. “Having an app that can help you with stress management and mindfulness and trying to do that in a virtual app from the convenience of your own laptop or phone is going to be a really big advantage compared to a traditional brick-and-mortar type of contact.”

In launching the new network, Solera aims to provide comprehensive behavioral health support for a variety of needs. To measure its success, the company will track clinical outcomes, healthcare cost savings, productivity and engagement.
