Suez provides 800GWH of renewable electricity to Bouygues Telecom

Suez has signed a long-term purchase agreement (PPA) with Bouygues Telecom to support the telecommunications company’s decarbonization trajectory.
Starting in January 2027, the 15-year contract promises Suez to provide 53 GWH of low-carbon energy per year, derived from household waste recovery.
The PPA is part of Suez Strategic Plan to enhance the energy and environmental performance of its facilities.
The revenue generated by these energy sales will be reinvested to upgrade French corporate waste to energy plants.
David Lamy, CEO and foundation director of the Suez Waste France business unit, said: “In Suez, we firmly believe that waste is a valuable resource for substances or energy worth recycling.
“Waste to energy is a central pillar of the Group’s strategy to support its customers’ energy transition, including local authorities and industrial customers. Signing this PPA with Bouygues Telecom is an important milestone in our ability to support businesses to decarbonize.”
Bouygues Telecom aims to use renewable resources to meet its electricity needs as part of its climate strategy.
The telecom giant plans to purchase 800GWH across the PPA through a fixed price agreement and supplement the investment in renewable energy certificates.
These efforts contribute to achieving their proven science-based goal reduction targets (SBTI) scope 1 [from sources it owns or controls]range 2 [a consequence of its activities but from sources not owned or controlled by it] -29.4% and range 3 [occuring in its value chain and typically associated with suppliers, customers or transportation] Use 2021 baseline year -17.5%.
“This partnership with Suez is an important step in our environmental commitment,” said Eric Laurent, Director of Procurement at Bouygues.
“It diversifies our PPA portfolio and is now at 87GWH per year while providing long-term price visibility to all parties involved. Providing a guaranteed base load power profile and ensuring a 24/7 power supply is a key advantage of our power supply.”
In early June 2025, Suez signed a PPA that wasted energy with French retailer Carrefour. As of 2026, Suez will deliver Carrefour stores in France through renewable electricity.
