TCS launches new software-defined wheel hub in Europe

Tata Consulting Services (TCS) announced the launch of three new hubs in Europe to enhance its capabilities in the software-defined vehicle (SDV) sector.

The new car delivery center in Munich and Germany’s Wilingen-Swinning and the engineering center in Romania represent strategic initiatives to support the transition of the automotive industry to the next generation of mobility solutions.

Germany's delivery center will assist automakers in developing and deploying software-powered services for autonomous driving, infotainment, safety systems and connected vehicle technologies.

The Romanian Engineering Center will be committed to designing and creating advanced automotive software platforms that will promote early development and innovation.

This extension is part of TCS' long-term strategy to enhance its comprehensive automotive software capabilities, including Chip-to-Cloud technology and services.

The strategic placement of these centers allows TCS to work closely with European OEMs and global automotive companies to provide offshore capabilities.

TCS Internet of Things (IoT) and Digital Engineering senior vice president & global head Regu Ayyaswamy said: “These new centres will position TCS at the forefront of automotive innovation, enabling us to deliver state-of-the-art solutions in autonomous driving and advanced cockpit systems. This expansion reaffirms our commitment to leading the transformation in the Software-Defined Vehicles space.”

Currently, the new center employs more than 100 skilled professionals who will join forces with more than 2,000 SDV engineers located in TCS globally.

This talent pool will help develop next-generation automotive platforms for digital cockpits, infotainment, advanced driver assistance systems and other critical SDV features, supporting the entire product lifecycle from concept to production and ongoing support.

TCS has served European automotive customers for over 25 years and has a good business in the automotive hubs in the region.

The company has been using digital engineering, IoT, cloud and data analytics to deliver innovative solutions to the digital cockpit, electrification, autonomous vehicles and connected vehicle ecosystems.

In addition, TCS uses generated AI to accelerate product development, which can be innovative and personalized faster in SDV.

Anupam Singhal, President of Manufacturing and Head of Business Group, added: “The shift to software-defined vehicles marks a moment of decision for the automotive industry. With the introduction of these new centers, we are deepening our commitment to supporting OEMs in building the next generation of intelligent, connected and sustainable vehicles.

“This expansion is a key milestone in our journey towards future employment, where software, engineering and design, powered by AI, converge to provide drivers and passengers with a safer, more personalized and constantly enriching experience.”
