The funeral of Pope Francis is scheduled for mourners to get together in Rome – Country
Pope Francis will rest on Saturday after lying in St. Peter's Basilica for three days, where believers are expected to flock to the first Latin American pope in history.
The Cardinal met Tuesday in the Vatican Chamber to map the next step before a meeting began before choosing Francis’ successor, as condolences come from all over the world. Under current specifications, the meeting must begin between May 5 and 10.
The Cardinal held a funeral at St. Peter's Square at 10 a.m. Saturday, celebrated by Giovanni Battista Re, the dean of the Cardinal College. U.S. President Donald Trump said he and First Lady Melania Trump planned to participate, and Argentina President Javier Milei also expected.
The Pope of Argentina died at the age of 88 after a stroke caused him to unconscious and caused his heart to fail. He has been recovering in his apartment after five weeks of hospitalization. His last public appearance Sunday, offering Easter blessings and greetings from his popemobile, looping around St. Peter's Square.
