The Asian War is “not imminent”

:: Philippine Defense Minister Gilberto Teodoro

“China's aggressiveness has been in production for several years. I believe that China's design for American leaders is not (unauthorized) of the American leaders. It depends on its own plan of action in the region, itself, our thoughts, its own expansionist activities, and its own control over the needs of the region. So, I believe that, despite this, we think this is the leader of the United States, and we have a factor in our design in China. Yes.”

“I don't think the prospect of war is imminent, but it depends entirely on the internal conditions of China. As far as the Philippines is concerned, our constitution does not allow us to seek war as a tool of national policy. What we are doing is to create is, just like Singaporeans, so are Singaporeans.

Teodoro added that the Philippines is doing its best to stop “the illegal invasion of China.”

Compared with some neighbors like Malaysia, the Philippines has been one of the growing critics of China's sovereignty over South China, and they have taken a more cautious stance.

Although Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Taiwan have made overlapping claims, China almost claims the entire South China Sea.

The 2016 ruling against the International Arbitral Tribunal said that Beijing's claims are based on its historical map and have no basis in international law and China does not recognize them.
