Independence Day spirit was not suppressed after lightning strikes the city of Sanford, where the Florida fireworks show was prematurely launched.

A major storm hit the docks area in central Florida and lightning on Friday afternoon. “There are fireworks for all the events that have been stored in preparation for the events,” Bianca Gillett, Sanford’s strategic communications manager, said on a Facebook live broadcast.

“We are very grateful for the reports of our injuries or deaths,” Gillette said. She then invited people out and enjoyed the celebrations while reminding them not to bring their own fireworks.
