President Donald Trump posted his opening address at West Point on Saturday and shouted to the school’s “first-class athletes.”
Trump said before emphasizing the men's hockey team: “I love sports stuff. What you do is amazing.”
“Last year, for the first time ever, Army lacrosse became the number one men's hockey team in the country. It was also a tough sport.”

Trump then headed to the national football team hub earlier this year.
“Your sophomore year, Army football beat the 20-17-year-old Navy, and the next year, you did it again, defeating the Navy 17-11 and defeating the Air Force 23-3,” Trump continued. “But this year, the Black Knights fought in the top 20 nationwide and had the longest winning streak since 1949 at graduate quarterback cadet Bryson every day, or when you call him, Captain America. But he chose this life and I think he was a good choice.”
Then, Trump begged to approach the stage every day and say a few words.
He said, “Go to Army Football. … Can't wait to graduate. Love you.”

“I just patted him on the shoulder. It's like I hit a piece of steel. That guy is in good health,” Trump said every day as he left the stage. “There are always reasons to succeed. Bryson’s idea is something else when other top college quarterbacks are considering a career advancement. He told an interviewer earlier this year, ‘I’m focused on my career as an infantry officer.’ That’s what he wants to do.
Trump spoke to Alabama graduates earlier this month, focusing on their team and former football coach Nick Saban.
Trump told 1,002 graduates that the academy is “the most elite and legendary military academy in human history.”
