“I tell you, these countries are calling us and kissing my ass,” he said in a speech at the National Republican Congressional Committee dinner on Tuesday night.

The president also criticized some Republican members who publicly opposed his “reciprocal” tariffs and tried to pass a bill that would grant Congress new powers that could prevent them in addition to existing powers.

“I saw some rebel Republicans, some people who wanted to stand said, ‘I think Congress should take over the negotiations.’ Let me tell you, you won’t negotiate the same way I did,” he said. “Oh, that's what I need. I need someone to tell me how to negotiate.”

Rep. Don Bacon, a Republican of Nebraska, introduced legislation Monday to limit Trump's increasingly stable economic policies, which has led to sharp volatility in the international stock market and has raised alarm bells among economists.
