New pregnancy app launches to support mothers by birth and beyond

A new D2C digital health app emerged from Stealth on Thursday.
San Francisco-based Trellis Health launched with $1.8 million in advance funds. The platform helps women easily access and understand their medical records to make better health decisions during pregnancy and throughout their lives.
“Trellis Health is addressing systemic problems in women’s health care in pregnancy, postpartum and family health – and the long-term role of this long-term role in life and well-being. Despite advances in medicine and technology, advances in maternal health and postpartum care, there are no tools developed among American women, and women, in some cases, their needs remain their lives.
She notes that this issue is often combined with snowball care responsibilities, as new moms usually become central managers of home health care.
Giraud claims that many women play this role, but they lack the tools to effectively track care in today’s hyperfragmental healthcare system.
She describes Trellis’ target clients as “a critical moment of health in which modern women start their health stages throughout their lives in pregnancy and postpartum.”
Giraud said the startup uses patient health history to create “personalized models and unique baselines” to support its health management in a coordinated manner with physicians and maternal experts. She added that users can also access health information through the in-app chat feature through certified nurse midwife.
Giraud said Trellis also uses predictive symptom tracking to create problems for patient care teams before each appointment and provides an in-app partner to reduce the increased psychological burden of health management.
The company employs a team of in-house providers, which also contracts for pregnancy and postpartum care services with other providers that provide professional services, such as lactation consultants and mental health professionals.
Trellis does not require insurance.
“This is an annual subscription fee for wide accessibility, including HSA/FSA payment options. Trellis has also developed a program to support those in need of financial assistance with the aim of continuing to work to improve maternal health declines across all populations.”
She admits there are many other pregnancy apps on the market – but she notes that Trellis is unique because almost everyone is focused on babies or what equipment to buy.
“Unlike other digital health solutions that focus on the life stage, Trellis Health is creating a comprehensive operating system for women’s lifelong health. The AI-DRIEN platform integrates years of medical history, unifies fragmented health data, and provides ongoing, personalized insights and provides proactive and wise care to women every day, enabling women to support women.”
