TSA at airport security checkpoint ends shoe removal requirements

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Tuesday that the shoes will be immediately over at TSA security checkpoints at every airport nationwide.

Noem announced nearly 20 years of policy at the Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. during a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

“In the 20 years since the policy was put in place, our security technology has changed dramatically. It has evolved. TSA has changed.”

“We now take a multi-layered, total security approach and the environment people expect and experience as they enter a honed and hardened airport,” Neum said.

“We looked closely at how TSA does business, how the screening process and what we do to keep people safe, but also provided some hospitality.”

Some passengers may still search for shoes.

Norm said the removal of liquids, coats and belts was also evaluated.

As the United States prepares to simplify large events held across the country, such as the U.S. 250 events, the Olympic Games and FIFA World Cup competitions.

“We are very confident that we can continue to provide hospitality to people, American travelers and those visiting our country while maintaining the same safety standards for passengers and our homes,” she said.

TSA Precheck and Partners Clear, IDEMIA and TELOS have prevented passengers from standing out in terms of safety, but the latest changes will affect everyone who crosses the main security route.

The change comes as the Trump administration's TSA wants to alleviate some travel hassle and starts launching new safety lanes for active service personnel just last week.
