The Detroit Pistons win their first playoff game since 2008 ECF, defeating the Knicks in Game 2

Cade Cunningham scored 33 points and 12 rebounds, Dennis Schroder had 55 seconds of tiebreaker left, and the Detroit Pistons beat the New York Nicks 100-94 100-94 in Game 2 of the playoff series on Monday, beating their NBA record for a 15-game winning streak.

The Pistons, who haven't even played in the playoffs since 2019, have resumed their first playoff victory since the Knicks eliminated a 15-point deficit since Game 4 of the 2008 Eastern Conference Finals against Boston. The Celtics won the last two games of the series before storming the Pistons in 2009, 2006 and 2019 before dropping the first game at Madison Square Garden.

Now they are back in the victory column, all tied to the series and will host the third game Thursday night.

Schroder traded until February until the Knicks equalized it with 94 of Josh Hart's dunk with a 16-4 run. He scored 20 points on the bench.

The Pistons designed one of the biggest turnarounds in NBA history this season, 44-38 after a 14-win season in 2023-24, including a 28-game winning streak, the longest winning streak ever in a season.

Then, they were in good shape, leading by eight points after three quarters of the quarter, winning the first game with an eight-point lead before the Knicks won the 123-112 game 21-0 for the fourth time. Detroit added another eight points after three Mondays, this time after a Knicks rally.

Jalen Brunson scored 37 points in the No. 3 seed Swiked Nicks, but Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby were limited to 10 points, respectively, with 23 points in the opener.

Cunningham rebounded with a strong performance with just 21-21 in Game 1 of the All-Star Guard. The Knicks tried to get him out of the paint and couldn't defend him as the Pistons took two free throws to the Knicks with a 55-49 lead at the end of the half.

The Pistons then took New York to a basket in the first seven minutes of the third quarter. Cunningham and Tobias Harris each had two baskets in Paul Reed's 11-0 run, as backup center Isaiah Stewart covered one with the basket with inflammation in his right knee, giving the Pistons a 68-53 win in the third inning 5:02 left.
