Ukraine strengthens Chinese soldiers fighting for Russia
Kiev strengthened allegations against the Beijing government after occupying two Chinese nationals fighting on one side of Ukraine and Russia.
These are not isolated cases, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized in an evening video message on Wednesday.
Zelensky added: “We also have information about other citizens of the People's Republic of China serving in the Russian army – name, last name and specific ways in which these soldiers became part of the Russian occupation.”
At a press conference not long ago, Zelensky said there were at least 155 Chinese nationals in the Russian army.
Zelensky said Kiev now has all the information about the 155 people, including their passport details. He added that Russia is recruiting these people through social networks such as Tiktok, and Beijing is aware of this.
He said at a press conference that the two Chinese prisoners questioned in Kiev now will only be released by Ukraine in exchange for their own prisoners of war.
Zelensky pointed out in his video message that Chinese soldiers fighting for Russia contradicted Beijing's official position.
Zelensky asserted: “When talking about peace, strengthening the contingency of occupation is a mutually exclusive thing.”
The formally neutral China has previously rejected the allegation that its citizens were involved in Russian invasion of Ukraine and spoke about “founded” allegations.
