Ukrainian officials say Russian drone died after hitting a residential building, Ukrainian officials say
Ukrainian authorities said on Saturday that Russian drones attacked Odessa, a port city in southern Ukraine overnight, killing two people and injuring at least 17 people.
Emergency services say a drone hit a residential tower in the city, causing damage to three floors and capturing residents.
According to district governor Oleh Kiper, the two were killed in the attack, a married couple, who added that there were three children in the injury. Moscow did not comment immediately.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, more than 40 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight in western Russia and Russian-occupied Crimea.
Long-range drone strikes have been a symbol of war and are now in their fourth year. Racial developments on both sides are becoming more and more complex, and drones turn war into test scenes for new weapons.
In early June, nearly one-third of the Moscow strategic bomber fleet was destroyed or damaged in secret operations by Okrari Ukraine, and cheaply manufactured drones were infiltrated into Russian territory.
On the eve of the second round of peace talks, Ukraine launched the longest attack on Russia, using drones to target Russian fighters. Ukrainian authorities said they had planned for a year and a half.
Both sides used smaller short-distance drones on the battlefield and in areas close to the front line of about 1,000 kilometers.
Ukraine's UB human rights monitoring mission said in a report released Thursday that between the beginning of the war between February 2022 and February 2025, short-term drone attacks caused at least 395 civilians and 2,635 injured. Russian armed forces attacked nearly 90%.
More than 13,300 civilians died and more than 34,700 were injured in the war, the Office of the United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights said in a June 11 report.
