Former First Lady Michelle Obama released a book that reviews her favorite fashion and style moments over the years.
Obama said she wanted to write the Beauty Book, titled “The Look,” which “recycled” her story after being carefully examined while she was in the White House.
“My appearance was constantly being dissected during our family's time in the White House – the clothes I wear, the style of my hair,” she wrote in an Instagram announcement.
She added: “I always wanted to share this story in my own way. I'm so happy to be at a stage in my life that I'm free to express myself – wear clothes I love and do what's real to me. I'm so happy to share what I've learned on the way.”

According to publisher Crown Publishing Group, the $50 book will be released on November 4 and contains more than 200 photos of the former First Lady, including images that have never been published.
Obama said the book will provide readers with behind-the-scenes observations of her most memorable appearance and the meaningful moments that accompany them. Over the years, it will also introduce her style team to readers.
“Appearance is more than fashion. It's about confidence. It's about identity. It's about the power of authenticity.” “My hope is that this book inspires reflection on the way we see ourselves and the way society defines beauty.”
Obama has previously talked about her style of censorship while at the White House.

Obama revealed during a book tour in 2022's book The Light that her husband Barack Obama straightened his hair while in the office because she didn't feel Americans were ready to accept natural hair.
According to a report in the Washington Post, she believes that the American people are “just adjusted” to be a black president and are not “ready” to look at the first lady’s hair.
“Let me keep my hair straight,” Obama said of her thoughts at the time. “Let’s go through health care.”

Michelle Obama lashes out at rumors in podcast interview
Obama revealed in April that fashion was one of the reasons she skipped Donald Trump’s second inauguration.
“It starts with not wearing any clothes,” Obama said in the podcast.
“I mean, I'm sure because I'm always ready for any funeral,” Obama added. “I walk around in the right clothes, traveling in clothes just in case it pops up. So I thought, if I'm not going to do this, I have to tell my team that I don't even want to have a dress ready, right?
