Woman testifies in Atlanta murder case, her twin sister murders ex-boyfriend
When a 22-year-old man was murdered, his ex-girlfriend suffered from a history of violence was the main suspect. However, prosecutors had to use her twin sister as possible suspects before they could be convicted.
In the case against Kyla Lett's murder of her boyfriend, authorities must be prepared in case Kyla Lett attempts to turn her twin sister Kayla Lett into a shooter.
Charles said eliminating the potential question mark of the jury was part of the reason why Kayla was the first witness she called in the Kyla trial.
Kayla testified that she got off at a Greyhound bus stop in Ohio and got off at a Greyhound bus stop in Ohio and they will take the bus to Atlanta.
Kayla confirmed it was a video of her sister Kyla on the Marta train, and Atlanta police found on chryjhonne's phone that he recorded about two hours before the murder.
Kayla testified that she was in Ohio at the time.
“She (Keira) absolutely didn't execute Chryjhonne Rainey,” Charles said.
Charles said Lyft Records placed Kyla in Metro Atlanta the day of the shooting in the West Side laundry on October 8, 2022.
Assistant District Attorney Michelle Andrews said the couple's relationship was toxic. They split in Atlanta, and took Kaira's property from their shared motel room in rainy days, apparently motivated by the murder.
Kyla Lett was convicted by a jury on March 28, 2025.
“We have one twin in one state and the other twin,” Andrews told Channel 2 Investigation Reporter Mark Winne. “Judge Garnier sentenced her to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole plus five years.”
Andrews said Rainey repeatedly called 911 and reported that a woman pulled a gun at him. On one call, he suggested that he knew her but didn’t know her name, the kind of thing a victim of domestic violence might do to protect the abuser.
The defendant is a young, attractive woman. We are not the ones we have modeled it as domestic violence abusers. But she claimed an innocent 22-year-old life,” said Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. “I really feel sad for this mother. ”
“Keira never admitted it was any of her videos or any of these photos,” Charles said.
There are many videos related to the case, including shots of the shooting. Kyla changed her outfit, but her shoes were seen in the surveillance camera, helping her identify her.
