A Kansas man was wrongly accused of being one of the shooters, opening fire at a rally celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory.

Denton Loudermill Jr. of Olathe was briefly handcuffed but never accused of being charged in the chaos following the fatal shooting. Later, he filed a lawsuit against three Republican Missouri senators and a Tennessee congressman who shared social media posts that mistakenly implicated him.

These cases were rejected, mainly on the issue of jurisdiction.

Attorney Laronna Lassiter Saunders confirmed the death of Loudermill in a statement Friday, but did not elaborate on the situation. Loudermill is 49 years old.

“More details will be provided in time, but for now, we ask you to respect the family’s privacy needs for them as they come together to grieve for this huge loss,” she wrote.

“While the family spent this time mourning, we want to make it clear that it is not over yet. Mr. Laudermere shouldn’t spend his last days, burdening the stress and making up for the lies popular due to the careless and ruthless actions of Congressmen, Missouri Senators and social media influencers who cannot verify the truth before destroying people’s lives.

“If you think we were confirmed before, you haven't seen anything yet!” she concluded.
