Midsummer pole dance in southern Sweden
I enjoyed midsummer in a rented beach hut in the village of Skåne, Bjärred, north of Malmö.,,,,, With friends in Sweden. We ventured to the local church and enjoyed the dance around the midsummer pole, decorated with vibrant blue and red flowers, many of the local residents decorated on beautifully decorated crowns. After dipping into dips along the Öresund Strait along the bathroom of the long marina, we dragged and dragged sweet strawberries into the daytime doom.

Party on the North Shore of Denmark
Our afternoon boating in the Baltic Sea, on the Baltic Sea, on the other foot at the top of the North Sea, Denmark North Julandran. We then headed south along the beach to the dunes to Skagen for the midsummer celebrations of Vippyfyret, where hundreds of people gathered to experience musical nights with songs and solo music. The artist, composer and poet are one of the crowds of a large bonfire, and it is a sight to see.

Pink lights near Stockholm at midnight
For an easy midsummer escape from Stockholm, Vaxholm is unparalleled. The fast ferry will take you to the capital of the archipelago in an hour. My tip is to spend an afternoon exploring the town, its classic Falu-Red wooden houses and gardens full of flowers. But don't take the last ferry back. Instead, find a place by the water, watch the midsummer sunshine refuse to set and bathe for hours with golden pink lights. It's an easy, easy-to-access method to experience the magic of Sweden's endless sunlight without straying from the city.

Food, friendship and fire in Valencia
Last summer, while I was resting in Valencia, I discovered that the Spanish was starting on June 23 to celebrate San Juan. In San Juan, the actual dates of bonfires, wine and music on the beach revolve around a few nights and seem to last until dawn. The local family I was with me invited me to choose some old furniture to burn by the beach bonfire and dance around the fire, holding hands, singing to the pagan gods to burn the evil of the previous year! We grilled anchovies and sausages at midnight at the wonderful Mercado Central in Valencia and then threw ourselves into the Med at 2am, a midsummer celebrating a sense of food, friendship and fire!

Circulate to the sun…or just Edinburgh
I really enjoyed riding in the sun – a 100-mile overnight bike from Carlisle to June 21. It is inclusive, joyful, full of community and fabulous. From Moffat Chippy queues to midnight binge to sunrise to Cramond Beach, it's the best way to spend the shortest night.

Red wine and coke on Asturias beach
We stumbled upon the midsummer noche de San Juan at Asturias Cudillero. Religious parades gave way to pagan bonfires, and people abandoned souvenirs for a year. Next comes the fireworks and the Brazilian Samba Theatre. Locals explained that the mayor could justify the fee because it was a prerequisite for re-electing. After midnight we headed to the beach to attend a Calimojo (Wine and Coke, don't ask). We retired at 8am and enjoyed breakfast with sausage and fried eggs when the live DJ started.

Midsummer of France
Our midsummer stayed in Le Pin, a small village in southern France between Bordeaux and Toulouse was filled with natural wonders that were not always seen, but heard a lot. From screaming quickly to the nearby 19th-century market hall in Auvilar to a turtle dove next to the country road, it is an idyllic poem of the bird's lover. We heard the melody of the nightingale all day and after the darkness and received calls from Circ Buntings, Hoopoes and Black Redstarts. It's not just a bird. One evening, cricket and frogs offer an unforgettable midsummer nightly medley.

Hiring a bicycle and exploring the grand Fête dela Musique in Paris is a great way to spend the city's winter solstice. Every June 21, the city becomes a large free festival, with stages of all sizes appearing outside famous landmarks and local neighborhood bars. Starting from the heart of the city, it was to capture some psychedelic guitars outside Georges Pompidou, and then we stomped past brass ensembles outside the jazz bar near Jardin du Luxembourg, classic French technology along the Seine and Scuzzy Metal Banks, in the square of the 13th Arondissement.

Golden lights in Piedmont, Italy
Under the golden lights of midsummer, the rolling vineyards of Serralunga d'Alba (about 35 miles southeast of Turin) are still alive. Stay at Cascina Meriame, a winery with panoramic views and I tasted Barolo and Barbaresco wines during an intimate tasting led by the enthusiastic owner. I spent the evening watching the sun falling on the Langhe Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while enjoying local cheese and Nibiolo wine. The nearby medieval castles add history to the tranquil landscape. For a quiet midsummer retreat culture, cuisine and nature, this Piedmont gem is unparalleled.

Winning tip: A great place to have a picnic, northern Iceland
We headed from Akureyri to Grímsey for the island's Summer Solstice Festival. Upon arrival early we hiked to the marking sign and obtained an official certificate to confirm that we had crossed the Arctic Circle. The celebration began with Krian, the only restaurant on the island, and continued until the nights of the school building. Drinks flowed, there was a treasure hunt, dancing, traditional songs and homemade food. The family gathers for a picnic on a wildflower-covered hillside, and outdoor chess competitions are held at midnight, and locals or strangers are welcome. This is indeed magical.
