Withings Health Solutions expands obesity care network, rolls out best practices in treatment planning

Withings Health Solutions, a company that provides health monitoring devices, has added Ilant Health to its ecosystem of obesity care management partners. It also publishes best practices for obesity management programs.
Through this ecosystem, Withings embeds its wellness devices, such as digital scales and blood pressure monitors, into digital health initiatives. This could improve data sharing and help patients and healthcare teams better track weight and other metrics. It also helps demonstrate ROI to the digital health company’s payment partners.
Ilant Health, the newest member of the ecosystem, is a virtual obesity management company that offers intensive behavioral therapy, pharmacotherapy and bariatric surgery. It also offers virtual visits to obesity medicine physicians, mental health practitioners, nutritionists and peer navigators. It serves employers and health plans.
Ilant Health joins several other companies in the ecosystem, including Form Health, Wondr Health, FyteHealth and Yazen Health.
“The partners that we work with, they share the same belief that we do, which is that personalization leads to higher retention and of course better patient engagement and better patient health. … It’s not just about [GLP-1s] “Really, it's about long-term outcomes, and that's the kind of partner we want to have in this space,” Antoine Pivron, vice president of Withings Health Solutions, said in an interview.
In addition to expanding its ecosystem, Withings has released five best practices with its ecosystem partners that obesity management plans should include:
- Remote monitoring: It is important to continuously monitor patients so that providers can adjust treatment in real time.
- Patient Engagement: Engage patients through devices and personalized messages so they can follow their care team's recommendations and stay on track.
- Value-based care: Having continuous data on patient progress makes it easier for providers to measure outcomes and demonstrate the ROI of value-based models
- Personalized care: Leveraging data such as body composition, blood pressure, sleep and activity makes it easier to improve care and intervene earlier when needed
- Clinical rigor: Programs should not focus solely on body mass index. They should also consider factors such as fat distribution, muscle mass, and metabolic health.
“I think we'd like to see more solutions on the market that are focused on long-term outcomes. … In the obesity space, it's not just about weight … it's more about mindset, building the right habits and strong habits that sustain progress over time,” Pivron said.
