David Duchovny wants to believe that he once played Scully, who played FBI agent Mulder to Gillian Anderson for nearly a decade.

The actor starred in The X-Files from 1993 to 2002 and now hosts and produces a new history channel series, “Secret Declassified with David Duchovny”. The 10-part show promises to explore “the government’s most secret, strangest, shocking events that have been explained throughout history.”

The 64-year-old told Fox News that the truth was there.

“What I found out is that some of the things the government has been doing secretly, and it’s just the way to do business because not everyone is full of our interests in the way we are for us,” he explained.

“There must be some secret action from time to time,” he said. “Not everything can be transparent. What I am interesting about these specific stories and many of the government-related stories is that when you see what you have done, you realize that these are just flawed people, trying to do flawed people, and in some cases, the best things they can do. Sometimes what they do is absolutely ridiculous and how do you ask, 'How do you think about how this works?”

He added: “It might be fun, but on the other side of the spectrum, some of the movements do hurt people, so it's not that fun.”

Some of the topics to be explored in “Secret Decryption” include the real story behind District 51 and “Argo”. (History Channel)

The first episode that premiered Friday focused on “Secrets and the Sky.” It details how a plane crash in North Carolina triggered the nuclear contest almost. Of course, there is also Area 51, a remote, formerly top-secret U.S. military base, which has long been the subject of UFO and space alien legends.

Duchovny hopes the episode will unravel the misunderstanding and attract the attention of trade-off experts.

“These files we processed in the show are decrypted, and for reasons that protect the living, many of them will be classified in the length of their lives, the life of a normal person,” he said.

“So these are the true stories we have been decrypted for the first time.

But unlike Mulder, Duchovny is a little skeptical.

In late 2024, despite the rapid surface of many theories, many mysterious drones were flying in New Jersey and the eastern U.S., but the star said he knew exactly what they were.

“I think they are drones,” he said with a smile. “Often, I ride an Occam razor, which is the easiest explanation, which is the real explanation, and that’s it for me.”

Duchovny might be to some extent. The FBI, Department of Homeland Security and state agencies investigated the sightings, but officials said so far, nothing can suggest that any unmanned agency has become a national security or public safety threat. Authorities say many witnesses are legal drones, manned aircraft, helicopters and even stars.

Watch: Oliver Stone explains why Kennedy's death should be re-examined

And the “JFK Documents”. In March, President Donald Trump released more than 63,000 pages of record related to the 1963 John F. Kennedy assassination. Many documents have not been repaired for years of historian confusion and fueled conspiracy theories.

Oscar-based director Oliver Stone’s 1991 film JFK on Tuesday called for a new congressional investigation into Kennedy’s assassination as a dark government conspiracy.

Duchovny didn't believe it.

“What's interesting about the decryption of the Kennedy document is that there is no new information about the conspiracy, because there is no conspiracy. There is no conspiracy,” he stressed.

“It's usually my point of view, there are some bad actors, some people commit crimes, some people do it,” he said. “Some people work for the government and commit crimes under whatever name they say. But there is no big conspiracy, and there is no new information about the ideas of these big conspiracies. I might be wrong, but that's how I feel.”

“I don't have other themes that I want to find,” he reflected. “But I'm sure they exist. And I'm sure they'll be interesting when they get my attention. But I just don't…I find the life before me as interesting as these stories.”

Then there are aliens. He argued that given the size of the universe, then certainly, we are not alone. But Duchovny admits he just doesn't think about “alien stuff.”

“When you go through a series like this, you realize that there may be conspiracies, but they are usually conspiracies involving three to four people, five people, 10 people,” he said. “No big conspiracy happened, never…these are just a strange human being who are trying to achieve their goals. But there is no big conspiracy.”

He said that if anything, no one would keep the secret for a long time. To him, living alone “is an unexplained encounter.”

He pointed out that “secret decryption” seduced him because it was based on what he was more interested in – fact.

“I’ve been looking for all these conspiracy theories that have surfaced in the world today, rather than believing 99% of them,” he said.

“And I think, it's interesting because these stories are stories that people have a lot of theories about, but, it's the truth. I'm sure that this won't stop people from thinking about the conspiracy because they'll think it's just another part of the conspiracy to come up with the truth. But… it's really strange than novels.”
