Russia's massive strike against Kiev kills nine times overnight
Kiev, Ukraine (AP) – Ukrainian authorities said Thursday that a massive Russian missile and drone attack hit Kiev overnight, killing nine people and injuring 63 others, including six children.
The Kiev Municipal Military Administration said on its telegram channel that Russia attacked Kiev with drones and ballistic missiles. The Ukrainian Emergency Services Ministry said at least 42 people were hospitalized. Rescue operations were still underway on Thursday morning to find the body under rubble.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the city military authority, said there was a fire in several residential buildings.
The attack began at 1:00 a.m. in at least four neighborhoods in Kyiv. In the Sviatoshynkskyi district, a fire broke out in the residential building that was damaged during the attack. Kiev City Government said people were trapped under the ruins of buildings.
More fires have been reported in the Shevchenkivsky and Holosiivskyi areas.
